Minimum requirements for Road Runner

In order for Road Runner to run on your computer, you must meet or exceed system requirements.

Protect your computer

The best first steps in securing your PC are running an antivirus program and a firewall. An antivirus program that is kept current and updated at least once a week should be installed on any PC that is connected to the internet. A personal firewall is also recommended. Our Wireless Road Runner option includes a firewall.

Master email accounts

You will receive a master account name (i.e. John Smith's master email account might be "jsmith1@berkshire.rr.com") and password from Road Runner. The master account name cannot be changed. You can set up a “friendlier” account name by creating a subaccount. You may choose your own subaccount name and password as long as it isn't already taken by another user (i.e. John Smith could setup a subuser email account to be "johnny@berkshire.rr.com").

Subaccounts

Subaccounts are email addresses that you can create in addition to your master account. Each Road Runner account may have up to four subaccounts. Subaccounts can be created only through a master account. In Account Management you can add, delete, or change settings for sub accounts under your master account. Changing your subaccount settings will allow you to use multiple email addresses.

Email at home

Once you have set up your master account and subaccounts, you will want to access your email at those accounts. We offer detailed tutorials on setting up your preferred email client for Road Runner email.

Email away from home

Whether you're on vacation on the other side of the world or visiting relatives during the holidays, you can check your Road Runner email away from home with our full-featured Webmail client. Just click on the "Webmail" link at the top of this page.

Wireless Road Runner

Expand the use of your Road Runner broadband connection. Multiple PCs can have simultaneous access to a single high-speed Internet account. Even your laptop can be connected via a wireless adapter card.
